Rachel A. Qitsualik

Of Inuit-Scottish-Cree ancestry, Rachel A. Qitsualik was born and raised in the traditional Inuit culture of the late 1950's. After working for some time as a language specialist and consultant, she found success as a writer. Together with her husband, Sean A. Tinsley, she has published many hundreds of articles on Inuit culture/folklore, much of which is used as educational content around the world. She has also contributed to books, including Ring of Ice (Lyons Press, 1999, 2005), Our Story (Doubleday Canada, 2004), America is Indian Country (Fulcrum Publishing, 2005), and Canada in 2020 (Key Porter Books, 2008). Along with her husband, she has had the further pleasure of co-authoring Qanuq Pinngurnirmata: Vol. I, a book of Inuit myths expressed in modern narrative, for Inhabit Media (2008). Rachel is fond of hawks, dogs, and vanilla ice-cream (not necessarily in that order).

Sean A. Tinsley

Of Scottish-Mohawk ancestry, Sean A. Tinsley is an army brat who learned to write at Sheridan College in the Toronto area, earning a 1992 "Best Writer" award from the Alliance Communications Corporation. Together with his beloved wife, Rachel A. Qitsualik, he has published numerous articles on Inuit culture, folklore, and mythology. In 2005, he managed to snag an award for his story "Green Angel", appearing in Volume XXI of Galaxy Press's Writers of the Future series (the third most esteemed prize for science-fiction in the world). Along with his wife, he has had the further pleasure of co-authoring Qanuq Pinngurnirmata: Vol. I, a book of Inuit myths expressed in modern narrative, for Inhabit Media (2008). Sean is fond of hawks, dogs, and chocolate ice-cream (not necessarily in that order).
